Opposition Candidates for 2010 Presidential Election in Close Race
This was based on the Pulse Asia Survey last February, for possible candidates for the May 2010 National Election. On the top spot were the possible opposition candidates like Francis Chiz Escudero, former President Joseph Estrada, and Manny Villar. Only one non opposition candidates who manage to have a good ratings and that is Vice President Noli deCastro. Based on the February 2009 Nationwide Survey on the May 2010 elections, these four politicians “enjoyed nearly the same overall voter preferences,” Pulse Asia Chief Research Fellow Dr. Ana Maria Tabunda said in the firm’s March 12 media release.
The Pulsed Asia have their survey in February 2 with 1200 respondents, they were asked if who were their first choice to be the next President of the Repubic of the Philippines. De Castro top the survey with 19 percent of the total respondents chose him to be the successor of President Arroyo, followed by Senator Francis Chiz Escudero who got 17 percent, former President Estrada with 16 percent and Senator Manny Villar with 15 percent. But it is very early to tell that this survey results could be same in the May 2010 election.
Behind this top four candidates were former Senator Loren Legarda with 12 percent, Senator Mar Roxas got 8 percent and Senator Panfilo Lacson with 6 percent. At the bottum of the survey were Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay and Metro Manila Development Authority Chairmain(MMDA) Bayani Fernando.
